Multiple Graphite Moulds
Product overview
Aplicaciones Tecnológicas Multiple Graphite Moulds are exothermic welding graphite moulds that allow different connections between different metallic elements using the same graphite mould.
System specially indicated for T-welds, horizontal cross, linear and parallel, in addition to a vertical earth rod. Suitable for conductors that do not exceed 95 mm2 or 13 mm in diameter for cables and rods.
The tapes have a limit of 30 x 4 mm and for vertical earth rods the maximum diameter is 19 mm.
Applications
The Multiple Graphite Moulds do not replace the Specific Graphite Moulds, but they are more advisable depending on the case. They are the best solution:
- if only a few common welding types are required,
- when the working features cannot be predicted,
- when conductor sizes are variable
- or in case of any unexpected connection during the installation.
Multiple Graphite Moulds: Operating Procedure
Multiple Mould Kits
Although you can order the parts separately, the most usual and efficient thing is to acquire the multiple mould suitcase.
The multiple mould is normally supplied in a case with the general reference MM-CTx (*), where x is the diameter of the earth rod/ cable/ tape required.
(Values available for x= 14, 16, 17, 18 and 19)

Apliweld® Secure+ Exothermic Welding
Apliweld® Secure+ Exothermic Welding is a process that achieves the molecular binding among two or more metallic conductors by a chemical reaction. This molecular binding improves mechanical, electrical and anti-corrosion properties compared with any mechanical connection.
Apliweld® Secure+ is the best way to make permanent, reliable and high conductivity connections for any installation requiring an earthing system.

Mould Durability/ Life Expectancy
Graphite moulds will withstand at least 80 joints. Greater care and cleaning increases the performance of the moulds.
The difficulty of the installation, the weather conditions or the type of connection also influences the number of welds that a multiple graphite mould will support.
Packaging Information & more
The product is supplied in a tool box that includes all the needed materials to carry out the welding except for the consumables. Cavity sealers (MM-CS) are, together with tablets, these consumables. MM-CS is supplied in a 60 units bag. They form the hollow space for welding when placed according to the connection table.
The system allows either electronic (Apliweld-E®) or traditional (AT-012N) ignition.
Please refer to the instruction sheet included in all multiple mould cases or download the Apliweld® Exothermic Welding Manual below.
Table of Tablets and Sealants needed for any connection
The following table describes the appropriate number of tablets and cavity sealants for any connection, as well as how to use them:
Conductor 1 | Conductor 2 | Connection | Tablets | Cavity Sealants | Cavity Sealants between Layers of Conductors | ||
Cable | Up to 70 mm2 | Cable | Up to 70 mm2 | Horizontal T | 2 | 2 | 1 + 1 |
Cable | 95 mm2 | Cable | Up to 95 mm2 | Horizontal T | 2.5 | 4 | 2 + 2 |
Cable | Up to 50 mm2 | Cable | Up to 50 mm2 | Cross | 2 | 3 | 1 + 1 + 1 |
Cable | 70 mm2 | Cable | 70 mm2 | Cross | 2.5 | 4 | 1 + 2 + 1 |
Cable | 95 mm2 | Cable | Up to 95 mm2 | Cross | 2.5 | 6 | 2 + 2 + 2 |
Cable | Up to 70 mm2 | ∅ Earth Rod | Any | Vertical T | 2 | 2 | 1 + 1 |
Cable | 95 mm2 | ∅ Earth Rod | Any | Vertical T | 2.5 | 4 | 2 + 2 |
Tape | Any | Tape | Any | T/ Cross | 2 | 3 | 1 + 1 + 1 |
Tape | Any | ∅ Earth Rod | Any | T | 2 | 2 | 1 + 1 |
Notes:
- Besides those described, linear welds are possible for all combinations. They require 2 tablets with the exception of 95 mm2 cable which requires 2.5 tablets.
- The following equivalence can be applied for round bar up to 12 mm: C70 = V10 and C95 = V12.
- For cable to tape bonds, the tape corresponds to cables of up to 50 mm2.
- Parallel connections are possible for cables of up to 50 mm2. They all require 2.5 tablets with 1+2+2 Cavity Sealants.
- For any other bond required but not described, please get in touch with us.
