Nexans JTS 240/300 MV Heat-Shrink Multi Joint is a compact, resin-filled solution for 3-core medium voltage distribution cables. It combines Nexans’ proven JTS heat-shrink technology with a single recycled plastic shell. This Nexans Cable Joint acommodates two conductor ranges (70-240 mm² & 120-300 mm²), simplifying stockholding and installation for DNOs, ICPs and MV cable contractors.

This joint is suitable for a wide range of network configurations. This includes 3-core polymeric (XLPE) cables, PILC, PICAS and transition joints between PILC or PICAS and 3-core XLPE. It is ideal for buried distribution networks and is well suited to refurbishment, reinforcement and extension works across existing infrastructure.

Connector compatibility includes two split-bolt connectors where specified, shear-bolt connectors and other approved alternatives. This provides flexibility across various project or network requirements.

Installation Worfklow

  1. Select the correct conductor range (70–240 mm² or 120–300 mm²)
  2. Prepare cable ends in accordance with standard practice
  3. Install the specified connector (split-bolt, shear-bolt or other approved type)
  4. Apply JTS heat shrink components, including the tube, pad system, screen continuity and sheath restoration
  5. Close and seal the shell enclosure
  6. Fill with resin and allow it to cure as per instructions

Nexans JTS 240/300 – Technical Characteristics & Design

This joint uses Nexans’ established JTS platform to deliver compact dimensions and high electrical performance. Its integrated triple-wall heat shrink tube combines a stress control layer, insulation layer and conductive outer layer where applicable, reducing component count and simplifying installation.

Electrical field control at the connector area is provided by a conductive rubber pad combined with an HK orange mastic outer layer. Screen continuity components, along with the sealed plastic shell and resin filling, ensure robust environmental protection, moisture resistance and long-term durability.
